At
the moment we have a core of parents who regularly attend meetings.
However we would like more parents / grandparents / guardians involved, especially
those who are new to the Club. There isn't a huge time commitment for
ordinary committee members, so please think about it before the next AGM
(usually in February / March)

Fundraising
Because nearly 90% of the Clubs income from
monthly fees is used to pay for pool hire charges, fundraising events throughout
the year are critical to the success of the Club. The primary sources of
additional fundraising are the annual sponsored distance swim, the Club
Championships and the Summer Sprints. Money received from sponsors,
programme sales, raffles, tombolas etc is used for the benefit of
swimmers and helps to cover the cost of Club equipment, medals and
annual trips such as Christmas pantomimes and bowling at Xscape.

REN96 Swimming Club
At the Clubs AGM on Thursday 1st March 2007 the members agreed to
support a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a closer, more formal
relationship between Renfrew Baths ASC and
REN96 Swim Team. The basis of
the agreement is that both clubs will continue to maintain their own
autonomy in terms of membership, finance and assets, teaching and
coaching structure, committees, volunteers, helpers and technical
officials. Mutual areas of interest are swimmer training programmes,
exchange of coaching staff, administrative support, maximisation of water
access and allowing swimmers to compete together at events under the SASA
'second claim club' arrangement. To view the full agreement please click here

Club Poster
To keep up the profile of the Club and to help attract new members we have a poster that
should be
displayed at local leisure facilities, community centres, supermarkets
and newsagents, generally anywhere that children and parents are likely
to stop and read. If you know of a good location, or can replace a
poster that has been removed please ask for a some copies, available in
A3, A4 and A5 sizes.
Club History
Renfrew Baths ASC was started by Baths Manager, Dougie Anderson around
1973/74 when he began to give lessons to any young swimmers who showed
interest in competitive swimming. Between 1973 and 1975 an assistant, Dougie Carrick came on to
the scene and took some of the swimmers to a higher level and began
entering competition. Swimmers by the name of Campbell McNeil, Ronnie
Bruce, Gordon Jackson and Alan Murray were entered for the West District
swims. Campbell McNeil went on to compete in the Commonwealth Games in
1986 and 1990.
In 1977 Dougie Carrick left and Alan Murray became Club Coach. The Club
moved forward and were affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Swimming
Association (SASA).
By 1980 the Club was firmly established in competitive swimming with
Alan Murray, Steve Callaghan and Bob Doherty running the club. In 1982
Steve Callaghan took over as Club Coach with Bob Doherty as Assistant
Coach.
The early 90's saw involvement in Synchronised Swimming and Water Polo
with Elaine Colquhoun and Tracy Callaghan being at the Commonwealth
Games in Edinburgh in 1990. Water Polo was a particular interest to the
boys and some of the swimmers competed for Scotland and Great Britain.
Steve Callaghan retired from the Club after more than 20 years voluntary
service in 2002, with Colin MacDonald who had been acting as Assistant
Coach from 1992 stepping up as Head Coach. Colin retired as Head Coach
in 2006, remaining with the Club as coach for top squad swimmers and
West District technical official for the club.
The Committee have relatively few documents relating to the history of the Club or
the past achievements of swimmers. If you can provide any historical information
particularly Club Swimming Records please contact Craig Macdonald at

Thank you
